Most cognitive assessments can't tell your best leaders apart, this one can.
The Complete Cognitive Map doesn't measure how fast you think, how analytically sharp you are, or how creatively you generate ideas. It measures the quality of your thinking, your ability to take increasingly sophisticated perspectives on complex, ambiguous, paradoxical situations. That's what differentiates exceptional leaders.

The problem
Most cognitive assessments in leadership measure a collection of technical cognitive capabilities: strategic thinking, decisiveness, analytical ability, learning agility.
The problem is that these capabilities, measured in isolation, fail to predict what matters most in senior leadership, the ability to navigate genuine complexity.

What does it actually measure?
The Complete Cognitive Map assesses a leader's ability to take increasingly sophisticated perspectives, moving from the world of concrete ideas through concept awareness, construct awareness, and ultimately to the fluid, context-free thinking of post-conventional cognitive levels.
The assessment identifies eight levels of cognitive sophistication across four perspective domains. Most leaders operate at level 4 (the ability to take a perspective on a perspective, sometimes called "second-order thinking"). Leaders at levels 5–8 demonstrate progressively more fluid, multi-contextual thinking, the kind that enables genuine strategic creativity, paradox navigation, and transformational leadership.
The Cognitive Map is closely related to the Complete Maturity Profile, as cognitive complexity and ego maturity develop in parallel, and the two assessments are often used together to provide a complete picture of a leader's developmental edge.

Use cases
Senior leadership selection
Identify which candidates have the cognitive capacity to succeed in your most complex roles, beyond track record and competence. Cognitive level is one of the strongest predictors of leadership ceiling.
Best for: Boards, CHROs, CEOs
Succession planning
Understand the cognitive developmental distance between a current leader's capacity and the demands of the role you're planning to move them into. Build development plans that address the gap specifically.
Best for: Talent teams, L&D leads, CHROs
Coaching focus
Use the Cognitive Map to give coaching a precise developmental direction. Rather than generic leadership development, coaching can target the specific cognitive edge that will unlock the leader's next level of performance.

The Complete Cognitive Map is the only developmental leadership assessment that measures quality of mind, not technical cognitive capabilities, but the underlying cognitive operating system that determines how a leader handles genuine complexity.
Used alongside the Complete Maturity Profile, the Cognitive Map gives the most complete picture available of a leader's developmental edge, covering both the cognitive and ego dimensions of adult development.
Leaders who have completed the Cognitive Map describe it as "the assessment that finally explained why certain challenges feel manageable and others feel impossible", because it names the developmental level at which those challenges become navigable.
