Taking your assessment

How to take your assessment and receiving your report

You will receive your heart rate monitor device and disposable adhesive electrodes in a box via post. Please keep hold of the box, as you will need it to return the device.

Due to the battery capacity on the device, please start recording as soon as possible. If there are any delays in starting your recording, please note you may need to charge the device beforehand. You can follow the steps under ‘Charging your device’.

You must monitor within 4 weeks of receiving the device. Please try and choose a start date that will include two working days and one non-working day (if you work standard hours, this could be Sunday through to Tuesday, or Thursday through to Saturday).

Once you are ready to monitor, use the figures below as a guide for where to place the electrodes on your chest. Please ensure that these areas are clean to reduce any interference with the signal. (In some cases, we recommend shaving any hair in the area to improve the signal quality. Even with fine hairs, it is often worth shaving to avoid any discomfort when removing the adhesive electrodes.)

Carefully peel off the plastic cover on the electrodes to expose the gel in the centre, then stick them on using the image guide below:Electrode Peel Diagram
Device Placement Diagram
The top electrode should be placed between the very middle of your chest (the bony part) and your right collar bone. The bottom electrode goes on your left ribcage.

Once the electrodes are securely in place, attach the heart rate monitor device to the metal studs on the electrodes. You don’t need to take any action to start the recording -it will begin automatically. The device will flash green intermittently to indicate that recording is in progress. If you do not see a flashing green light, please read the ‘Important information about your equipment’ section.

Note that the device is not waterproof. Please remove it and the electrodes before showering or engaging in any water-based activities, such as swimming, using a steam room, or a sauna. You can then put on new electrodes and re-attach the device.

You should wear the monitor for three consecutive days and nights (ideally starting in the morning) and record a diary of your activities for each day on our assessment platform.

To record an entry, follow the login details below and select ‘Add Diary Entries’. Then click on a time slot to enter a brief description of an event, e.g. “Gym session” followed by the start and end time and then the emotion(s) you felt during the event e.g. “Energised”.

Please also complete the Emotional and Social Intelligence Questionnaire (ESQ) located on the home page of the assessment platform.

It is essential that you complete your diary entries and ESQ at the time of wearing the monitor.

Entering your diary sheets:

Follow the instructions in your e-mail to log-in to the assessment platform and select the Complete Energy Audit.

Click on ‘Add Diary Entries’ to open a calendar where you can select a time slot. Enter a title for the event and a brief description of your activities (one or two sentences). Make sure to include the emotion(s) you were feeling during the event. For example:

18th February 2025

Event description: “Gym session.”

Start time: 06:00

End time: 07:00

How did it make you feel?: “Mostly cardio, feeling energised.”

We recommend you enter as many diary sheets as possible throughout the day.

Completing your ESQ:

As above, follow the instructions in your e-mail to log-in to the assessment platform and select the Complete Energy Audit. Under the ‘Emotional and Social Intelligence Questionnaire’, select ‘Begin’ to start the ESQ.

The questionnaire should take you around 15 – 20 minutes to complete.

If you are unclear on any of the questions or how to answer them, please contact your practitioner directly.

At the end of your three-day monitoring period, detach the device from the electrodes, just as you would if you had replaced electrodes during monitoring. The recording will stop automatically. You can dispose of all used electrodes.

Please place the device back in the original box and contact your Client Services member to confirm that you have completed monitoring. If you are unsure who this is, please reach out to your practitioner directly. We will then arrange a convenient date and time for our courier to collect the device.

Once we receive your device back, we’ll analyse the data and generate your Complete Energy Audit report. You will receive the report during your feedback session with your practitioner.

Please ensure that you keep the monitor on during sleep, as sleep periods contain essential data on your ability to recover.

Due to movements during sleep, the monitor might accidentally detach during the night. To avoid losing essential data, we recommend wearing a close-fitting top at night to keep the electrodes in place.

It is important to ensure your monitor and electrodes stay in place during your sleep as sleep data is crucial to the analysis.

Please do not wear the monitor in water as the product is not waterproof. However, it is safe to use during strenuous exercise.

If you are worried about it becoming detached, we recommend wearing tight clothing and using sports tape to keep it in place.

The electrodes are hypoallergenic. However, if you have a dermatological condition or experience any skin reactions during monitoring, please immediately remove the electrodes and let us know on support@complete-coherence.com.
